Fall 2014 Soccer Season
To the WSA Soccer family,
The fall season is upon us and coaches have received their rosters. You should have already received a call from your child’s coach. If you do not receive a call by this Friday, please contact your league representative. You can find their contact information at http://www.weatherfordsoccer.com/contacts.php.
This season, the board has decided to go with two jerseys for each player: White and Blue. If you are listed on the schedules as the home team, wear the white jersey. If you are listed on the schedule as the away team, wear the blue jersey. The best option is to bring both jerseys to all games. This decision was made for several reasons: 1) it is easier to order uniforms 2) the board does not have to worry about teams in the same division having the same color 3) no team should have to wear pennies (MSA teams will play teams from other cities that could have white jerseys, meaning the home team is the one that has to change their jerseys when both teams have the same color). This will also allow those parents who like to have shirts, hoodies, or other clothing match their child’s team colors, the ability to do so. Previously, a team would have a color, from season to season. Now, you can buy blue or white and it will work each season. Most importantly, the blue that was chosen is "ROO blue, matching the WISD’s chosen color.
As a team you may choose to purchase your own uniform. This has been done in the past when a company wants to sponsor a team, however, this is only allowed provided that two conditions are met: One, the sponsor must be approved by the WSA board, as we do not want uniforms with the name of a company that may not fit with youth sports. i.e. a liquor store, or tobacco store. Two, you will be required to put the WSA logo on the sleeve of the uniform at the teams expense. WSA will provide the logo. Again…purchasing your own uniform is 100% optional. Any wording placed on the uniforms must be approved by WSA, with the exception of the child’s name or nickname.
Our first weekend of games will be Saturday September 6th. We will have the schedules posted by August 31st. WSA must wait on MSA to release their schedule before we can create our schedule. As soon as we have the schedule posted, we will send an email blast, as well as update both the website and face book.
Thank you to all the coaches who attended the coaches meeting this past Saturday. If you have any issues with your uniforms, please contact Joshua Tarbay. If you are having issues seeing your rosters, please contact Clay Yarborough. For those who were not able to attend the coaches meeting, Joshua Tarbay will be at the fields this coming Saturday the 23rd from 9 am til 10 am. He will also have the coaches’ code of conduct forms that you can sign. He will turn those into our registrar who will then release your rosters. If you wish to obtain access to your rosters prior to the 23rd, you can sign and email the coaches’ code of conduct to Clay Yarborough at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can find the coaches’ code of conduct on our website http://weatherfordsoccer.com/downloads.php. If you need to know who your league representative is or their contact information you will find that at http://weatherfordsoccer.com/contacts.php. For those MSA teams that are going to participate in the MSA Warmup Tournament, you can find more information at metroplexsoccer.org, and good luck. Our season starts on September 6th. Schedules will be posted no later than August 31st. WSA has to wait on MSA to publish their schedule before we can publish ours. Please remember that if you have a conflict, a conflict being you coach two teams. Please email those to Clay Yarborough as soon as you can. If one of the teams you coach is an MSA team, you need to notate that information on your team fact sheet. The team fact sheet should already have been completed.
Good luck with the upcoming season. WSA will work tirelessly to make this a great season for all. We will need your help as coaches to achieve this. This will start at your first practice. Remember to have the parents meeting. At this meeting you should explain to parents what you except from them and their child. How they should act on the sideline, and how they should treat the referees, and the other sideline. Remember you the coach are responsible for your sideline.
